While the term "repair" stands for a process of returning to the gun some of its lost functionality, the term "restoration" stands for a process of providing the gun with authenticity. It means that after making new parts instead of lost or broken ones, these parts have to be aged in order to look as if they were aging with the rest of the gun. After restoring guns since 1967 for museums and private collectors we have developed a number of techniques for making the gun both functional and authentic. |
